ENVIRONMENT

From the Owners:

“Avalon comprises 400 acres of rolling pasture, pristine rainforest and pasture and 4 kilometres of river frontage. Adjoining State Forest means that our nearest neighbour is 4 kilometres away – feel your soul soar at the space and freedom.

We are solely solar powered, all water comes from sky or river, we have no rubbish collection so all food scraps go to pigs or chooks, all green waste is composted and once or twice a year we fill the trailer with anything else including building waste from our on site building projects. We have a cedar cabin, re-fitted glamping caravan, tiny house and camp sites. We use mainly our own timber in building projects, or local from the local timber mills, we use low VOC paints, cleaning products and all our best buys for our accommodation are from charity shops, eBay etc. We also have pristine rainforest environment with creek and waterfalls.

Our Platypus population is extraordinary and testament to the crystal clear waters – approximately one Platypus every 50 metres. Take the time to sit patiently and wait for the platypus to pop up. Koalas are rarer and more tricky to spot – but they are there so keep looking up! Plenty of goannas, wallabies, water dragons, Bass, turtles, frogs, parrots of all shapes and sizes, wedge tailed and sea eagles, so bring a camera and binoculars if you have them.”
