THINGS TO DO

There are numerous walks surrounding Lumera Chalets, including St Patricks Head click here and The South Sisters.

Great coastal views from the summit and a vigorous 2 hour return climb, combine to make St Patrick’s Head (Lumera Genena Wuggelena) an undiscovered gem.

The property is about 20 minutes from Douglas Apsley National Park, 45 minutes from the Bay of Fires, just over an hour from Mt William National Park, 45 minutes from Freycinet National Park, and just over an hour from Ben Lomond National Park.

Bicheno Penguin Tours takes you to see fairy penguins at dusk just 35 minutes away.

Evercreech, the home to Australia’s tallest gum trees, is only 40 minutes drive. It is like a forest frozen in time amongst some of the most degraded and worst forest practices that have occurred in Tasmania but well worth the time to visit.

You can spend the day travelling through Fingal, a small township that once thrived. There are many old charming churches and quirky out buildings and the stunning Bare Rock.

Blue Tiers just 40 minutes drive north of Lumera is a must see for the avid walker. Nearby is St Columbia Falls and the ever popular Holy Cow Cafe and Pyngana Cheese Factory – well worth stopping at to purchase their delicious cheddar cheeses and icecreams etc.

The region boasts an array of fine fresh farm & sea produce consistent with the State’s claim to fame as a food lover’s paradise. Many of the well known Tasmanian wines are produced here and the winemakers and growers can frequently be met at the vineyards.

ENVIRONMENT

From the Owners:

The Chalets run on 12-volt off the grid solar system which makes our property one of the very few true carbon neutral properties. Lumera Chalets is a true Eco retreat that aspires to carbon neutral principles. As we are off the grid and on solar power we supply you with a small inverter to charge your laptops and mobile phones etc…sorry no hair dryers.

Wildlife roam freely around Lumera Chalets and as we are wildlife carers and care for orphaned and injured wildlife, you will have a chance to say g’day to the resident wallabies and wombats.
