ACTIVITIES

Indulge and discover fabulous food, and hand-crafted wine and beer in Australia’s finest historic gold-mining town. Wander, relax and re-connect amongst elms and oaks, heritage architecture and boutique shopping.

There are few towns so beautifully preserved as Beechworth. With her deep stone gutters and charming little shops – many with an almost identical facade to that of the Gold Rush days, the allure of Beechworth undoubtedly lies in her tangible history.

Stone walls that have watched over 160 years pass are a marvel in themselves, demonstrating the hope once had for the town to become a powerful, wealthy and influential place for far longer than the intense but short-lived spurt she did.

The Burke Museum and Historic Precinct are the heart of historic Beechworth, carefully curated to tell the stories that made this town famous. Visit the ‘Street of Shops’ at the Burke Museum and walk the streets of Beechworth in the 1850s, sit in the judge’s chair in the Courthouse, and look to the dock where the first woman ever hanged in Australia was trialled.

REVIEWS

We loved everything about our stay and wished we could stay longer.
The location was excellent. Close to shops and restaurants. The house was tastefully renovated and decorated with lovely antiques and furniture. Very cosy and well heated. Beds were comfortable and made with luxurious linens. Bottle of wine and crumpets were a nice touch. Coffee shop next door was great.

My wife & I loved everything about Marlo House. The location of Marlo House is perfect, just off the main intersection of Beechworth, within walking distance to everything in Beechworth. You couldn’t get any closer to the centre of Beechworth. The house itself is lovely and decorated beautifully. Lots of old clocks & old bellow cameras. Perfect for the house. The kitchen is clean and well stocked. All the bedrooms are very comfortable & the bathrooms are clean & bright. The lounge room has a beautiful old chesterfield couch, very comfortable. We would be very happy to stay at the Marlo House again in the future.
