ENVIRONMENT

Tiny houses integrate the concept of tiny houses with eco-tourism.

The bathroom facilities follow ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin and shower (gas heated for hot showers). In Australia’s severe climatic challenge of bush fires and drought, the owners help to save the environment by conserving water using an eco-friendly toilet. Wastes are broken down in the compost toilet via an aerobic decomposition process. It is a waterless system (no need to flush!), whereas a standard dual flush toilet would use up to 350L of water per week.. An aeration fan helps in the decomposition process and minimises odours.

If you’re using your own soap, shampoo, tooth paste, we ask that you bring biodegradable ones so that the grey water runoff does not harm the environment.

REVIEW:

Thoroughly enjoyed staying in sweet 6Sixteen. I loved the surprise element in that from the path it looks very tiny (as you’d expect…) but has a feeling of spaciousness once you set foot in the door.

It is beautifully fitted out and styled with utmost care and attention to detail. As an Interior Designer, there is really nothing I would change as I feel the owners have truly hit the mark! The furnishings are not only stylish but very comfortable and functional for the space. I loved the views through the large glass doors (or from the adjoining deck). I couldn’t help but feel relaxed gazing out over the surrounding fields, horse training facility and down to the bottom of the garden. There’s a beautiful hammock which got some good use while the sun was out, as did the bean bag chairs around the fire pit.

The home feels particularly cosy at night with scented candles, lanterns and fairylights twinkling outside. It takes on quite a different feel from the daytime.

The hosts were wonderful! Very warm and welcoming and ensured my stay was relaxing and comfortable. I didn’t find them intrusive in any way and enjoyed my interaction with them. I’ll most definitely be back (for longer next time) and have already recommended it to my friends who are also very keen to have a stay here too. I’m totally convinced Tiny Home life is the life for me after my stay! Thank you Patreece, Margaret and family for a wonderful time and some much needed R&R.” Monique August, 2019.
