Day trips abound in our region of the Barrington Coast, including the Hunter Valley and its wineries to the Hinterland of the Gloucester and Barrington Tops. The coastal gems of Great Lakes and Pacific Palms areas are also worth a visit.
ENVIRONMENT
From the Owners:
“Our inspiration is the Camp’s pristine riverside and bush setting that features large swathes of dedicated conservation areas. We take pride in harnessing the powers of the elements to run this green haven and are continually looking at ways to further our sustainability.
Our state-of-the-art composting toilets are odour-free and save thousands of litres of water each year. We use toiletries in bulk and use refillable containers to cut down on plastic packaging and waste. We provide all-natural botanical toiletries from the Dindi Natural range. We also use environmentally sensitive cleaning products.
The tiny houses feature furniture and joinery from reclaimed timber. Old wares were used to decorate the interiors and show the charm in reuse. We also recycle glass and paper waste. The tiny houses are moveable – purposely sitting on wheels – to have a light eco-footprint. ” Â
TINY HOUSES, BARRINGTON COAST
What we love…
What a great idea to use recycled corrugated iron, reclaimed windows and scrap timber to build these unique tiny houses!
Constructed by the environmental not-for-profit Bower Reuse and Repair centre in Sydney, they are affectionately named after the native Cockatoos and Bowerbirds that frequent the area, while one tiny house aptly shares the name of the organization that built them.
The tiny houses were built atop a trailer, then driven to Hawks Nest, parked in the beautiful bushland setting and completed on site.
The off grid pair are a testament to the fact that every ‘tiny’ step taken today by re-using materials and saving energy by going off-grid can make a difference.
