The Deluxe Beachfront Eco Tents are perched at the foot of the sand dunes and strategically positioned to capture magnificent ocean views, our beachfront eco-tents offer guests total luxury and comfort. Situated within 5 metres of western bay beach front, the Beachfront tents are roomy, permanent safari-style tents. Electric lighting and power is connected in each tent, including a freestanding fan.
The Beach House is tucked away in the back of a lush monsoonal vine thicket setting, providing guests with total solitude and privacy. Native garden views, Double bed or twin single beds and ensuite.
Hideaway Cabin is conveniently tucked away in the back of a lush monsoonal vine thicket setting, providing guests with total solitude and privacy. Private deck with native garden views, Double bed or twin single beds, ensuite and ceiling fan.
RESTAURANT The Retreat has upgraded with a new deck bar and restaurant overlooking the Arafura Sea. Guests are served delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners crafted from our seasonal vegetable and herb garden served with local caught seafood, along with homemade preserves and Banu Bread prepared by our chef. Wines, Spirits and Beer are also available for purchase.
PLUNGE POOL There is a fresh water plunge pool integrated into the deck bar for guests to cool off with a drink while enjoying our sunset seascape views overlooking the Arafura.
BEACH SHADE MARQUEES There are three sunshade marquees with hammocks for guests to enjoy more time down on our beaches to take time to read a book or just snooze on the beach.

Banubanu on Bremer Island offers you a unique Arnhem Land experience.
The Gove Peninsula and its surrounds hold a huge and uniquely untapped potential for fishing enthusiasts and for those looking for a true remote area experience. Gove provides all who visit an unforgettable adventure in one of Australia’s most exciting and pristine areas.
Fishing
A chance to experience truly world class fishing with a myriad of species including Spanish Mackerel, Coral Trout and other prized blue water and reef fish in the waters surrounding the Gove Peninsula in North East Arnhem Land. Half day or full day fishing charters are not included in the packages and need to be arranged at an additional cost. Minimum numbers apply.
Indigenous Culture
As well has providing the opportunity to relax guests can also enjoy traditional hunting and crabbing tours with the Yolngu community who live in north-eastern Arnhem Land and are its traditional owners. The men teach guests how to make a fishing spear and how to use it to catch fish and mud crabs, whilst ladies can sit and learn arts and crafts from our local community members.
Bird Watching
Guests can experience bird watching tours and see the many varieties that inhabit the island. The many species of birds spotted around Banubanu include:
Sea Eagles, Ospreys, Brahminy Kites, Whistling Kites and other raptors
Terns, Boobies, Noddies, Oyster Catchers and Beach Curlews
Torres Strait Doves, White Cockatoos, Cormorants, Crows and the occasional Pelican and Brolga.
Turtle Watching
We send out a member of staff to locate fresh turtle tracks and relay back the locations to ensure guests get up close to these wonderful creatures in an eco friendly way.
Just chill out
Enjoy the total experience and bliss of the remote solitude, clear skies, swimming, beach combing and the bright starry nights around the camp fire. Most visitors enjoy the dramatic skies that appear now and again preceding the brief storms that characterise the NT coastal regions.

THE ENVIRONMENT
- Banubanu is located on Aboriginal land that belongs to the local Yolgnu clan of East Arnhem Land. The traditional owners have given Helen and Trevor permission to operate Banubanu on Bremer Island. Visitors pay a permit fee when visiting Banubanu which is paid to the traditional owners.The Gutjangan Aboriginal Community located on Bremer Island has a close family relationship with Trevor & Helen since the beginning of Banubanu in 2003. It has always been the vision of the senior custodian of Bremer Island Laklak Marika for Banubanu to create employment for her grandchildren and great grandchildren living on Bremer Island. Today, that vision has now becoming a reality.The tourism economy at Banubanu benefits community members in the form of Tour Guides, Arts & Crafts Sales, teaching traditional weaving, housekeeping and gardening.Guests can learn about the customs and traditions of the local Yolngu community. The men will show you how to make fishing spears and take you hunting for fish and mud crabs the traditional way. The women will teach you how to weave a traditional basket and explain the meaning behind the traditional paintings on shells and other artefacts
