FEATURES

Riverhouses
Set in prime riverfront locations, spectacular rainforest views and the soothing sounds of the Mossman River are key elements of the Riverhouses. Generously spacious, with polished timber floors and elegant interiors, room appointments are stylish and comfortable. An oversized spa bath, with uninterrupted rainforest views, is one of the many special inclusions offered in addition to standard room features. Riverhouse guests also enjoy premium sparkling wine and a deluxe tropical fruit basket on arrival.

Treehouses
At Silky Oaks Lodge, guests are accommodated in beautiful timber Treehouses. Set into the rainforest and surrounded by lush gardens, each has been carefully designed to offer privacy and maximum comfort. Treehouses have an understated tropical style with natural tones and timbers used to create a relaxed, soothing living space. Floor to ceiling glass doors open onto a wide verandah where a hammock is perfectly positioned to make the most of picturesque views. Air-conditioned, interiors are spacious and attractively furnished with a range of contemporary comforts including a daybed. Large bathrooms, including a spa bath, CD player, phone, coffee and tea making facilities are among some of the in-room features.

ACTIVITIES

Self Guided Walks
All the walking trails are natural under foot, with tree roots and rocks present, thus becoming slippery in wet weather. The Mountain Trail can be quite steep in sections and crosses several rock streams and will be slippery in wet weather. Suitable footwear is advised. Take a picnic hamper and visit one of our picnic spots along the Mossman River or up to Figtree rapids.

Guided Walks
Guided walks normally start just before dusk, along one of the walking trails into the Daintree National Park. On scheduled days & subject to weather conditions. Please contact Reception for further details as prior bookings are advised.

Yoga
Scheduled yoga classes are held in the Pavilion or Riverside. Enjoy an authentic spiritual yoga experience in our natural tropical rainforest setting.  Prior bookings are advised.

Daily Shuttle to Port Douglas
Take advantage of our daily scheduled shuttle to Port Douglas. The main attraction is Four Mile Beach, a pristine strip of palm-fringed, white sand which begins at the eastern end of Macrossan Street. Macrossan Street also offers boutique shopping, wining and dining. On the western end you’ll find the picturesque Dickson Inlet and Reef Marina.

Kayaking/Canoeing/Snorkelling
Our canoes and kayaks are located in front of the main Lodge near the main billabong. The Billabong, just past River Treehouse 14, is excellent for snorkeling and is home to freshwater turtles, eels, Jungle Perch as well as our shy resident platypus. The river in front of the main Lodge is also suited for snorkeling and make sure you wear fins for swimming against the current.

Mountain Bikes
Cycle to Mossman Township or Mossman Gorge, or head down Syndicate Road towards Miallo and take in the Tropical North Queensland landscape, maps are located at Reception. Be sure to take plenty of water with you, wear a helmet and inform Reception of your route.

Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours
At nearby Cooya Beach, brothers Linc and Brendon Walker, will take you on an adventure of discovery to experience indigenous story lines of living and hunting on the coast and among the mangroves. You will collect traditional food, and try your hand at spear throwing. This tour is best at low tide.

Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime Walk at Mossman Gorge
The true rainforest people live in harmony with their environment and invite you to share it with them. During your 1.5 hour walk your experienced interpretive guide will demonstrate traditional plant use, take you to another world with their dreamtime legends in an enchanting narrative of the rainforest people.

Walkabout Adventures
Juan Walker is a local Kuku Yalanji guide and will take you on a tour of Cape Tribulation that is a little bit different then your normal Cape Tribulation tour. This full day experience will encompass both traditional and modern day tales of this old land. Juan is an extremely passionate guide, sharing his traditional knowledge and experiences with others.

Janbal Gallery
More than just an art gallery, Janbal art gallery is indigenous owned and houses their own artist in residence. It is also home to one of the largest displays of local Kuku Yalanji art and artefacts. The gallery also has painting classes on offer.
