Meals are hand prepared for guests every evening with fresh vegetables straight from the garden and locally sourced meat, fish, cheese and eggs. The lodge preserves fruit in season for deserts, thus ensuring full flavour. Local venison, organic lamb, free range pork, fresh wasabi and truffles are also on the menu according to season.
The walking lodge Tasmania is situated in the valley of Jackeys Marsh which has played a significant role in the history of Tasmania from prehistoric times to the present. The valley was used by Tasmania’s first people for thousands of years as a travel route between the lowland plains and central plateau. This route was replicated later by English and Irish settlers taking their stock to the highlands for summer grazing. You too can follow the same trail today.
