The studio can only accommodate one small child under 13 years of age; however, there is no dedicated bed for a child, so either the child shares the queen bed with the adult(s), or a swag and linens are brought for the child. ACTIVITIES

The Northern Rivers of NSW is renowned for the many festivals that take place throughout the year — there is the famous Byron Bay Blues Fest in April; Splendour in the Grass Festival in July; Falls Music and Arts Festival in December, etc. If you are a lover of great music and arts then come and visit the Northern Rivers!

In addition, there are numerous white sandy beaches nearby:  the Byron Bay beaches with its eclectic people and laid back style, as well as Pottsville and Cabarita beaches which are great surfing spots.

Fig Tree Retro Studio is 5 mins drive from the uncrowded Pottsville Surf Beach,  25 mins from Byron Bay, 25 mins from Coolangatta Airport and the Gold Coast, 35 mins from Wollumbin/Mt. Warning National Park, and just 90 mins from Brisbane.

THE ENVIRONMENT

From the Owners: “At Fig Tree Retro Studio, we care about minimising our impact on the environment, so these small steps are just a few we have adapted.

BUILDING STRUCTURE

  • The building itself has a mixture of zinc, recycled timber, and all its doors, windows, etc. were bought secondhand from a local recyclable shop.

COMPOST TOILET

  • The bathroom has an electric compost toilet using sawdust and compost spraying agents to break down waste.

RECYCLE BIN

  • Guests are also provided with a recycle bin for their plastics, glasses, papers, etc.

COMPOST FOOD SCRAPES

  • Guests are encouraged to compost their veggie and fruit scrapes and a compost bin is provided in the kitchen.

LIGHT GLOBES

  • All globes in the studio are LED for better efficiency.

GREYWATER

  • The studio sits on a 6 acre organic property – we have various fruit trees and veggie plants on the property and we do not use chemicals on them and utilise greywater at all times to nourish them.

PRODUCT USE

  • Lastly, we bulk buy various items such a toilet paper (Who Gives A Crap) and cleaning products (Earth’s Choice) – we use and offer these items to our guests for their use.​

The owners of Fig Tree Retro Studio have recently finished the renovation of their old stables into a cool, fully furnished retro style studio. The studio is private and self-contained with kitchenette containing retro pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, toaster, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, lovely 1940’s Walmac oven in working condition, 1950’s Kelvinator fridge, and the classic formica laminate table and chairs.

The bathroom is quite spacious and has an easy-to-use electric composting toilet. There is a queen size bed, TV with inbuilt DVD player, and a spacious deck to relax and watch our lovely alpacas, Billy & Emmy grazing

Fig Tree Retro Studio gets a wonderful coastal breeze and plenty of natural light, and is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of greenery. It has its own dedicated parking area.
