ENVIRONMENT

Caring for the environment is all about respecting the land and preserving what we have, circumventing the need to produce and consume more.

Black Sheep Farm has been a sheep farm for many years and the shearing shed was in production until the 1990’s, when wool prices fell. The owners, Dee and Rob, saw the potential of transforming the shearing shed into unique accommodation and giving it new life. While Dee wanted to provide guests with modern comforts, she was also passionate about retaining as many of the original features of the shearing shed as possible, to celebrate a colourful industry and its’ history.

Dee therefore designed the B&B around original features such as the gorgeous Koertz woolpress , the shearing machines, the timber and pine floorboards, and the amazing wool-sorting table.

What we love…

Black Sheep Inn offers a great chance to experience rural history in contemporary comfort. We love the fact that the key elements of the building have been wonderfully conserved, such as the timbers hand-cut from the property, the galvanized iron, the flooring and sheep chutes, the wool table, the red Sunbeam shearing machines, the wool baskets and the huge Koerstz wool press. But the accommodation facilities of Black Sheep Inn provide a distinctive twenty-first century pizzazz and a unique rural experience.

Tell me more…

The property’s original shearing shed has been transformed into modern and stylish five bedroom accommodation, which can be booked out to a group of 4 or 5 couples.  It’s kept wonderfully warm in Winter by the open fireplace (with air-conditioning heating/cooling in the bedrooms).
