Independent travellers and adventurous families enjoy walking and mountain biking through this unique region while discovering both Aboriginal and European heritage. Renowned for some of the best birdwatching in the state, the protected woodlands along the fertile river flats attract regent honeyeaters, woodland birds, and birdwatching enthusiasts alike. The park is also home to native Australian wildlife like kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabies and gliders.
Capertee National Park is also a great stopover if car touring around neighbouring Turon National Park and Gardens of Stone National Park.

Capertee National Park offers 2 properties in a spectacular location. Historic Capertee Homestead, known as ‘Port Macquarie’ is a 4 bedroom house with an annex bedroom. Capertee Cottage nearby is a 2 bedroom cottage.
Please bring your own bed linen and towels, as they are not provided. The cottages are in a remote location, so it’s a good idea to pick up your supplies before you arrive. The nearest town is Rylstone, approximately 45 mins drive away. There is limited/no mobile reception in this park.
Capertee National Park offers spectacular birdwatching, walking, camping as well as heritage homestead accommodation, west of Blue Mountains, near Lithgow.
Located west of the Blue Mountains, Capertee protects a range of wildlife and plants found nowhere else on earth. Active types will love exploring the nearby tracks on foot or bicycle. If you want something a little more leisurely simply soak in the scenic river views while listening to the chattering lorikeets and honeyeaters.
In the evening, kangaroos and wallabies are often seen grazing nearby. Gather the family and delight in a barbecue under a blanket of stars. You might even hear the call of the powerful barking owl echoing through the bush.
