Eggs Collection
​With over 400 chickens on the farm, collecting the eggs and feeding the chickens is always an adventure for the young and young at heart..

Orchard
​Our Orchard is filled with over 50 fruit and olive trees, with more being planted each year. Take a walk and watch the ducks do their bug patrol.

Vegetable Garden
​Growing vegetables in an alpine region is challenging, yet we manage to deliver a bounty each season. Help us or just enjoy the freshness.

Petting the Sheep
​We are a registered breeder of the heritage breed, Southdown baby-doll sheep…these are dual purpose sheep and just love to be hand feed and given a pat…you’ll want to take one home!

Brush our Coos
​We just love our Highland cattle, and once you see them you’ll see why. We have a breeding program to develop the cuteness factor to call them ‘Teddy bears”.

WildBrumby Distillery
Wildbrumby is the highest distillery in Australia. Located only 35km from Avonside, the distillery has access to pristine Alpine water, organically grown fruit and native mountain botanicals, which have become the inspiration behind its award-winning stable of schnapps, gin and vodka.
Yarrangobilly Caves

One that looked at the permaculture principle in building a sustainable farm, with accommodation surpassing what is currently available in the area. At the same time developing an unforgettable experience for families or simply a place for those that want to escape urban life for a few days.

All our waste is handled on site and all none recyclables are composted using worms, so please no plastics, sanitary products or baby wipes can be put into the toilet.”

This beautiful self catered 3 bedroom cabin is one of two cabins on the property: Avonside Alpine Estate 5. (The other is a two bedroom cottage). It sleeps six and can be set up to your configurations (prior to arrival). The decor is modern Scandinavian with an Australian touch. This is a working farm, so the owners have requested that guests always leave the gates as you find them and do not interact with any livestock unless you are accompanied by a farmhand. You are free to walk through the orchard or the the vegetable garden.

Since the arrival of white settlers, Avonside has always been prime merino country and the owners continue to have a sheep stud on the property. The studs for South Down ‘babydoll’ sheep. this heritage breed is breed as a dual purpose sheep (meat and felt wool). They also have a small stud of Polled Highland cattle which are proving very popular.

The location is 5km from the main road between Canberra and Jindabyne (via Cooma and Berridale).
